My dog, the Gourmet.

We have a mutt from the pound. I was taking him
out on a walk this fine winter morning and he saw
a packet of McDonald's "Chicken McNuggets" in the
gutter that some litterbug had discarded. He ran
over to the food, sniffed once or twice, and
moved on without touching the supposedly tasty
snack.

I have eaten a very few McNuggets in my time (it
reminds me of imitation chicken), but it got me
to wondering. Why wouldn't he eat the refuse? I

and find that two of the last three ingredients
are:

#1. TBHQ: aka "tert-Butylhydroquinone". A number
of studies have shown that prolonged exposure to
TBHQ may induce carcinogenity. See:

AND:

#2. Dimethylpolysiloxane which is the main
ingredient in Silly Putty. Basically harmless in
small doses. But why the fuck are McDonald's
suppliers putting it in the food?

My question regarding ingredient #1 is: Why is
McDonald's using potential carcinogens in its
food? I'm going to write the CEO and ask him.
