Any athletes in the NG? I'm 52, love to run. I'm currently overweight
about 30 lbs, but working on it. I have no health problems other than BPH. I take Hytrin 10mg, Proscar 5mg, and Saw Palmetto. I just started on the Proscar about a month ago, it has made a difference in urination, and I'm suprised. I've used Hytrin for about 5 years. My regular Doc told me that there is now available a new hormonal product similar to Proscar that has better efficacy, 2 yr vs 4 yr for Proscar, up to 35% reduction vs 15% for Proscar. She told me to ask my urologist before getting my next Proscar prescription, he would know what it is and how to dose it. Anyone know about it? Meantime, my biggest problem with running is that I feel like I'm gonna bust if I can't stop and pee after about 10 minutes. And I make sure I pee it all out before heading out. Anyone have any similar experiences? -John in Enfield-

John,
I had similar experiences while running. A lot of the problem was caused by residual in the bladder. After PVP my residual is now zero, and I am not bothered by any urgency or frequency while running. I can now run for as long as I like without having to look for a tree or bush to go behind. :) Patrick "John" news:is57gvkv9u1l9r6srj7e5m68ja6a8q24s3@4ax.com... > Any athletes in the NG? I just go just before I leave and don't have a problem during the run. Heck, I usually don't have to go for an hour afterwards due to the water loss even though I typically drink at least 8 oz immediately after the run. OTOH, during the day I usually have to go at least every 2 hours.

It takes much longer than straight water to digest, and may not fill bladder up as quickly? Just a thought. Best regards.
