Avodart

Anyone have any experience with Avodart? I recently went to my GP to
get an annual physical. I've been taking Proscar for about a month, I rec'd a Rx for it from my urologist after visiting him for kidney stones (which turned out to be 'false kidney stones' - it hurt like crazy but I didn't pass anything and nothing showed up on xray). But my GP says there's a new drug, slow working but works in about 1/2 the time as Proscar, and if it works right, shrinks the prostate 20% or more, as opposed to 15% for Proscar. So I asked my urologist about it, he says he's happy to try me on it, but it has only been out a short time and doesn't have the track record of Proscar. So I said, let's do it. My insurance pays for both (he wasn't sure if it would pay for the new drug). Anyone's experiences with it would be helpful. -John-

I am taking Flomax as well. Dr. Te says that the two work together in the shrinking process. Go for it, John. Dick

Maybe you or somebody else can answer this question for me: What to do after obtaining the maximum result, say after a year or so. Does that means that you can stop the medication and that the prostate starts its natural growth again, as it did before using Avodart? Or will there be an accelerated growth until the prostate has its original bigger size again? Jan
