Please spell out acronyms the first time used in a thread!

This is a great newsgroup, but frustrating for the occasional reader. All
those acronyms! PVP, TURP, TUNA, etc. Is there no group FAQ? Where can I get these defined? My special need right now is to have PVP spelled out. Even good old http://www.acronymfinder.com and http://www.onelook.com/ fail with that. PVP Please? Jack Crane

I suspect your next question will be for a list of those who have had a successful PVP. There is one somewhere. Then there's....oh, don't ask! The regulars will know what I am talking about Derry

The link below doesn't mention PVP but it covers most of the acronyms in
discussions of various treatment options. There are plenty of sites covering BPH and most of them cover what would go into a FAQ. http://www.niddk.nih.gov/health/urolog/pubs/prostate/index.htm#treatment "Jack Crane" news:Xns93B4C4014A02Cjdcrane7yahoocom@130.133.1.4... > OK, forgot about Google (how could I!). > http://www.laserscope.com/surgical/professionals/pvp.html > > But the thread subject stands as is. PVP = green light laser therapy as performed by Gordon Muir at UCH in London
.,,,,,,,see another posting with details of his highly informative website on all aspects and all forms of treatment for BPH TURP= Trans urethral resection of prostrate = gold standard treatment in UK TUNA = Trans urethral splitting of prostate seldom done in the UK "Jack Crane" news:Xns93B4C21F1E5FEjdcrane7yahoocom@130.133.1.4... > This is a great newsgroup, but frustrating for the occasional reader. PVP Please? > > Jack Crane PVP = Photoselective Vaporization of the Prostate; Google search under Niagara PVP and/or Laserscope (the company that makes the equipment). I think the site is www.laserscope.com. Some valuable references to the acronyms are at http://www.niddk.nih.gov/health/urolog/pubs/prostate/index.htm#treatment Also search google under Prostate or BPH. A FAQ would be helpful, but requires a volunteer abd the knowhow to post it.
