Bad Cop, No Donut! What is it about FL cops?
2003-06-25 10:25:24
"A Florida man who caught an alligator with a rope because he feared
it would attack a woman has been fined for being in possession of the animal. Michael McCormick was given the Ł110 fine by a state game official called to the incident in Tavares. McCormick said he saw the alligator crossing a road towards a woman holding two infants and two children at her side ... 'I just pulled over, made a loop with rope and tossed it over him,' McCormick said. He dragged the animal back to the edge of a fence that surrounds a retention pond. He said he told a friend to call police as he kept the alligator corralled. When Tavares police officers arrived, they made McCormick cut the rope. They then called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission." (06/23/03) http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_793222.html What is it about Florida cops and the lack of thought processes? First a lemonade stand, and now this. Next time, this guy can watch a 'gator eat some kids, and when asked why he didn't do anything wave the ticket at them. Morons. You cut off the funniest part, Frank! "When game officer Monty Hinkle arrived, he said he understood McCormick's intentions, but had no choice but to issue the citation. Hinkle then called for a trapper to catch the alligator that had been set free just minutes before." So maybe it was a union thing? I mean it's one thing if for some bizarre treehugging reason the alligator was not allowed to be 'molested' for any reason, but they went ahead and captured him anyway!!! "Joy Hill, a fish and wildlife commission spokeswoman, said McCormick should have directed his efforts to get the woman and children out of the way, not the alligator." Yeah, right. A woman with a handful of kids is easier to wrangle than ONE alligator. It's not like the alligator, if that was really his intent, would follow along as he trie dto lead the 'prey' to safety. If I were this guy, I would not only NOT pay the fine, I would make sure it was front page news on my local paper, with everyone's name in caps. -- Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it. -- Thomas Sowell
